  • One Spencer Day: Derby Moor sixth formers deliver RE workshops to Spencer Trust Primary pupils

    A group of sixth formers from Derby Moor Spencer Academy recently hosted a day of learning centred around the teachings of Hinduism and Buddhism for fellow Spencer Trust primary pupils from Ashwood, Brackensdale, Castleward, Chellaston Fields, Highfields, Hilton, St Giles, The Mease and Wyndham Spencer Academies.

    The day was held at Ashwood Spencer and was an opportunity for our sixth formers to develop their leadership and communication skills through planning and leading their own workshops.

  • Chellaston Fields' Daisy Sutcliffe wins Gold at Prague World Cup Dance Competition

    Spencer Academies Trust and Chellaston Fields Spencer Academy proudly share the incredible achievements of Daisy Sutcliffe, a pupil in Year 2 at Chellaston Fields, who was selected to represent Team England in the 2024 Dance World Cup in Prague earlier this year and won First Place and Gold in her group song and dance performance!

    The Dance World Cup is the world’s largest dance competition for children and young adults, with the 2024 event the largest to date, with 9,500 dancers from 54 countries taking part!

  • Ashwood Spencer Vice Principal visits world-renowned Ron Clark Academy

    Earlier this month, Ashwood Spencer Vice Principal, Daniel Millward, was invited to visit the highly-acclaimed Ron Clark Academy (RCA) in Southeast Atlanta, Georgia. 

    RCA is a world-renowned middle school that has redefined what it means to inspire and engage students. Known for its dynamic and transformative teaching methods, vibrant atmosphere, and a focus on leadership, RCA has received both national and international recognition for its success in educating students with passion and creativity. Teachers at RCA use music, movement, and creativity to make lessons memorable, with classrooms designed to be interactive, engaging, and fun for students who attend the school.

  • Trust Leaders join together for annual Trust Leadership Day

    Leaders from across the Spencer Academies Trust joined together for the annual ‘Trust Leadership Day’ last Friday. Over 70 members including Academy Principals, Trust Senior Leaders, Trustees and Central Support professionals were in attendance for a day of learning and collaboration.

    The day was held at the Jubilee Hotel and Conference Centre in Nottingham and is the fourth year the event has taken place. This year’s theme centred around “belonging”, encouraging colleagues to embrace the motto “Belong, Build, Become”, in which all members of our school communities collectively create, and contribute to, the Spencer Academies Trust.

  • Castleward Spencer celebrate 'Outstanding' report after first ever Ofsted visit

    Staff and pupils at Castleward Spencer Academy are celebrating this week after receiving a phenomenal report in which they were awarded ‘Outstanding’ in all categories of their very first Ofsted inspection.

    Castleward Spencer currently teaches pupils from Early Years through to Year 3, after opening three years ago, as part of Derby City Council’s development plan for education in the Castleward area of Derby.

  • Rushcliffe, Hilton & Glenbrook in Energy Sparks Top 10 National Scoreboard

    Rushcliffe Spencer, Hilton Spencer and Glenbrook Spencer have been recognised for their inspiring sustainability efforts to help tackle climate change and conserve energy usage in school, ranking in Energy Sparks’ Top 10 schools nationally. An extra spotlight goes to Rushcliffe Spencer for also ranking #1 on the East Midlands scoreboard!

    The academies have been busy over the last academic year with a series of school-wide projects, working hard to demonstrate their approaches to reducing energy consumption and promoting a culture of sustainability within the school community.

  • Outstanding GCSE Results achieved across Spencer secondaries

    Spencer Academies Trust are delighted to announce another year of excellent GCSE results across its 8 secondary schools today with 71% of entries achieving a grade 4 or above in English and Maths and 51% a grade 5 or above, both of which are higher than the 2022-23 national average.

  • Spencer students celebrate exceptional A-Level Results

    Spencer Academies Trust are thrilled to announce the remarkable A-Level results achieved by students across the Spencer family of schools today with 27% of students achieving grades A*-A and 55% grades A*-B.

    The number of students awarded grades AAB or higher, including in at least 2 facilitating subjects, has further improved on last year’s performance, rising to 22.3%, and surpassing the 2022-23 national average. The average grade (B-) and average points score (36.29) are also both above the 2022-23 national average.

  • Rushcliffe Spencer celebrate tenth year of Esperanza Festival

    Rushcliffe Spencer Academy celebrated the 10th anniversary of its ‘Esperanza’ festival in the summer term, raising money for the School of Hope in Jocotenango, Guatemala. Thanks to the fantastic effort of students, staff and the wider community, the academy raised £3,900 this year - a new record! This brings the total over the past 10 years to over a whopping £20,000!

  • Spencer Primary Pupil Parliament: A Year in Review

    The Spencer Academies Trust Primary Pupil Parliament met for the final time this year to celebrate and reflect on the achievements of their projects and steering groups over the 2023-24 academic year.

    The Pupil Parliament, which consists of two pupils from each Spencer primary, meet once a term to discuss topics that matter most to them, with steering groups centred around the environment, community, teaching and learning and SEND and inclusion.

  • Spencer Trust Academies celebrate Spencer Superstars Day

    Staff and students across the Spencer Academies Trust came together to celebrate the achievements of our wonderful Spencer Superstars this month and raise money for the Spencer Superstars Charitable Foundation. Activities included dress-up days, sporting events, fun fair games and BBQ’s for an action-packed day filled with celebration.

    Spencer Superstars supports children to live their passions and follow their dreams by providing funding to children and young people to enable them to participate in their chosen field of excellence. Since launching in 2022, the Foundation has raised over £60,000 and helped over 100 children and young people attending Spencer Academies. Recipients so far have included budding gymnasts, a musical virtuoso and young tech genius.
