  • Spencer Primary Pupil Parliament: A Year in Review

    The Spencer Academies Trust Primary Pupil Parliament met for the final time this year to celebrate and reflect on the achievements of their projects and steering groups over the 2023-24 academic year.

    The Pupil Parliament, which consists of two pupils from each Spencer primary, meet once a term to discuss topics that matter most to them, with steering groups centred around the environment, community, teaching and learning and SEND and inclusion.

  • Spencer Trust Academies celebrate Spencer Superstars Day

    Staff and students across the Spencer Academies Trust came together to celebrate the achievements of our wonderful Spencer Superstars this month and raise money for the Spencer Superstars Charitable Foundation. Activities included dress-up days, sporting events, fun fair games and BBQ’s for an action-packed day filled with celebration.

    Spencer Superstars supports children to live their passions and follow their dreams by providing funding to children and young people to enable them to participate in their chosen field of excellence. Since launching in 2022, the Foundation has raised over £60,000 and helped over 100 children and young people attending Spencer Academies. Recipients so far have included budding gymnasts, a musical virtuoso and young tech genius.

  • George Spencer Sixth Formers teach Maths Masterclasses to Spencer Trust Primary Pupils

    A group of sixth formers from George Spencer Academy recently hosted a day of ‘Maths Masterclasses’ for fellow Spencer Trust Year 5 pupils from Sunnyside Spencer Academy, Hilton Spencer Academy, Brackensdale Spencer Academy and Portland Spencer Academy.

    The pupils in attendance are all on track to achieving greater depth in Maths by the end of the academic year and were given the opportunity to take part in lessons on a range of topics including codes and cyphers, coordinates and symmetry and irrational numbers.

  • St Giles Spencer Academy hosts Opening Ceremony for 'Maddy's Garden'

    St Giles Spencer Academy recently celebrated the re-opening of 'Maddy’s Garden', with a special ‘Sunflower Day’ ceremony in memory of former pupil.   

    The garden was initially installed on the school field in 2008 in memory of Maddy, a former pupil of St Giles, who sadly passed away. The build was arranged by her father and Toyota Charitable Trust.

  • Ashwood Spencer awarded Carnegie Gold Status School Mental Health Award

    We are delighted to share that Ashwood Spencer Academy has been awarded the Gold Status School Mental Health Award by Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools, following reaccreditation.

    The Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools aims to strengthen the mental health of the next generation of supporting schools in order to make a positive change across all levels of the UK’s education system.

  • Clover Leys Spencer earns "Good" in first ever Ofsted inspection

    Ofsted inspectors rated Clover Leys Spencer Academy as “Good” in all areas, in its first ever inspection since opening in September 2021.

    The report opens by praising the strong sense of family and growth felt in school: "The motto ‘growing together, learning forever’ could not be anymore appropriate for this new school." Inspectors also highlighted the "calm atmosphere that buzzes with positive energy" and the school's focus on developing a "family culture, with a big heart".

  • Glenbrook Spencer staff members take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise money to expand their outdoor provision

    Staff members, family and friends from Glenbrook Spencer Academy took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on Saturday 8th June to help raise money to expand and develop the academy’s outdoor learning provision.

    The group set out on the 24 mile (38.6km) hike up the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, and completed the climb in 11 hours and 40 minutes.

  • St Giles Spencer awarded Centre of Excellence Status & Artsmark Gold Award

    St Giles Spencer Academy, located in Chaddesden, have achieved Centre of Excellence status under the Balanced System® Scheme for Schools for the second time, following a visit earlier this month.

    The Balanced System® is designed to help improve outcomes for children and young people across the range of speech, language and communication needs, by providing schools with the tools, mentor support and peer support to ensure they are effectively using resources to meet the needs of pupils.

  • Spencer Superstars Charitable Foundation celebrate with second ball

    The Spencer Superstars Charitable Foundation held its second spring charity ball last month, raising a collective total of just over £12,000!

    The event took place at the Crowne Plaza Nottingham, with over 200 partners and staff members in attendance, and included auctions, a raffle, a live band, and performances from two of our very own Superstars - Sebastian Wang with his incredible piano solo and Sydney Charles welcoming guests on arrival with his fabulous bagpipe performance!

  • Pupils from Sunnyside Spencer & Fairfield Spencer receive Children of Courage Awards

    Darcey Butcher from Sunnyside Spencer Academy and brothers Zachary and Maxwell Shaw from Fairfield Spencer Academy received awards at The Rotary Club of Nottingham’s Children of Courage Awards 2024 earlier this month.

    Held at the Nottingham County Ground and presented by the Lord Mayor of Nottingham, the awards recognise and honour local young people who have faced adversity and/or hardship in their lives with extraordinary courage and tenacity, or who have shown outstanding service to their community.

  • Spencer Trust Choir perform at Nottingham's Albert Hall

    Pupils from eight Spencer Trust Academies performed at the Albert Hall in Nottingham as part of the Spencer Trust Choir.

    In collaboration with Music for Everyone and Inspire Nottinghamshire Music Hub, who are working to bridge the gap between communities and music provision for young people in schools, pupils from Chetwynd Spencer Academy, Fairfield Spencer Academy, Portland Spencer Academy, Sunnyside Spencer Academy, Glenbrook Spencer Academy, Rosecliffe Spencer Academy, Millside Spencer Academy and George Spencer Academy’s swing band put on a wonderful show for all in attendance.
