Inkersall Spencer Academy awarded Good status at Ofsted inspection
Pupils and teachers at Inkersall Spencer Academy are delighted after being rated Good at its first Ofsted inspection post COVID-19.
The Academy, located in Staveley, Chesterfield is part of the Spencer Academies Trust family of schools, and underwent a full Ofsted Section 5 inspection which is designed to revaluate the schools rating, following a ‘Requires Improvement’ status from their previous inspection from April 2018.
Her Majesty’s Inspector commented that the Academy is a ’rapidly improving school’ and that the ‘pupils say they are happy and safe here’. The children’s behaviour and happiness were highlighted by the inspection team, ‘Pupils are enthusiastic. They enjoy school and work hard.’
Reading and Phonics were also observed as being a ‘strength’ with the inspector praising the ‘consistent and systematic approach that starts at early years’. The Report also acknowledges that accurate assessments mean that any extra additional help is effectively managed, ‘Frequent and accurate assessment mean that pupils who need extra help get it quickly.’
Since Inkersall’s previous inspection in April 2018, the Academy has seen a huge investment from its Sponsor, Spencer Academies Trust, including the appointment of experienced Principal Sarah Allison, and has undergone work to improve both the indoor and outdoor learning environments.
The Academy is rapidly becoming an essential part of the local community, ‘parents and careers are overwhelmingly positive about the school.’ Parents also acknowledged that ‘Children are happy from the moment they enter the school gates.’
Sarah Allison, Principal said: ‘We are so pleased with our recent Good Ofsted rating. Our staff and pupils have worked extremely hard to turn this Academy around over the past few years, whilst also navigating through a global pandemic. We have put a lot of effort into building strong foundations at Inkersall and will continue to build on those. We aim to continue to be a positive and integral part of our community.’
