Rushcliffe Spencer Academy Facilities & Resources Manager wins National School Award for Estate Management
Robin Harrison earned the nomination and award through his long career of development and sustainability within the academy and wider Trust.
Out of over 200 nominations across eight categories, Robin Harrison, Facilities & Resources Manager at Rushcliffe Spencer Academy, has won the National School Award for Estate Management of the Year.
The National Schools Awards took place on 8th December at the prestigious House of Lords to recognise educators, schools and multi-academy trusts for their transformational work across the sector. The ceremony was hosted by the Institute of School Business Leadership (ISBL) and the Schools & Academies Show.
Over 27 years of service at Rushcliffe Spencer Academy, Mr Harrison has continuously supported the development of the school estate and site caretaking team, and he led the acquisition of two new school buildings with a third currently under construction. Beyond that, he has supported Spencer Academies Trust with the development of a strategic approach to estate project prioritisation and co-chairs the Trust’s Environmental Sustainability Steering Group. He has led training workshops for peer and professional networks, and his work in support of the educational environmental sustainability agenda is recognised nationally.
Mr Harrison said, “I was surprised, shocked, and truly humbled to receive this award, which is a career highlight, and reflects well on the whole school site team, and on our core school value that We Care for our World.”
A school estate is one of the most critical parts of a school’s success, and the management of school buildings and infrastructure is often an overlooked aspect of day-to-day school life. As such, this award recognises those who have continued to manage and improve their school’s buildings and estate throughout the pandemic and beyond.
CEO Paul West said, “Robin has been an invaluable part of the team at Rushcliffe Spencer Academy, and across the Spencer Academies Trust. We are thrilled to see his passion for sustainability and commitment to providing a safe, innovative learning space recognised at a national level and offer our sincere congratulations.”
