Glenbrook Spencer Academy awarded School Games Gold Mark Award

The School Games Mark is a government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. This occasion marks not only the first time that Glenbrook Spencer Academy has received an award in six years, but it is also the first time in the school’s history that they have achieved the Gold Mark.

Sport Lead Chris Tucker said, “With a total of over 150 young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.”

Mr Tucker worked closely with Mr Lewis Vaughan-Jones and Miss Sian Cox to organise sports competitions, after school clubs and athlete visits throughout the year, as well as receiving ongoing support from Glenbrook’s office and senior leadership teams.

Director of Primary Education Angela O’Brien, OBE said, “Physical education and sportsmanship are integral aspects of the education of young people, and we are extremely proud of the team at Glenbrook Spencer Academy for the hard work they’ve put in to provide these valuable opportunities for their pupils. The Gold Mark Award acknowledges Mr Tucker and his team’s successful commitment to holistic learning and growth.”
