Glenbrook Spencer staff members take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise money to expand their outdoor provision
Staff members, family and friends from Glenbrook Spencer Academy took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on Saturday 8th June to help raise money to expand and develop the academy’s outdoor learning provision.
The group set out on the 24 mile (38.6km) hike up the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, and completed the climb in 11 hours and 40 minutes.
Having raised over £2,500 from the challenge so far, the Academy are looking forward to using the money to help develop the school’s outdoor learning area and enhance the resources available to Glenbrook pupils.
Tom Stockwell, Principal at Glenbrook Spencer Academy said “It was great to be part of the team that completed The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. Although the walk was challenging, completing it felt like a great achievement. The money raised will enable us to improve our outdoor area further for the pupils of Glenbrook."
Abigail Kemp, Year 2 Teacher and Key Stage 1 Lead, who helped organise the sponsored hike said "The hike was challenging but worth it knowing we were doing it for our school. It was great to come together as a team to take on the challenge. Reaching the final peak was an amazing feeling and to add to it, looking at the 
JustGiving page the next morning to see that we'd exceeded our £2000 goal made all the aches worthwhile!"
