Rosecliffe Spencer Academy receives “Good” rating from Ofsted
The Nottingham primary school was rated “Good”, with “Outstanding” in behaviour and attitudes, in its first inspection since opening in 2020.
In its first inspection since opening, Rosecliffe Spencer Academy was rated “Good” by Ofsted with “Outstanding” behaviour and attitudes.
The report highlights the school’s commitment to providing individual support and a carefully thought out curriculum, as well as the pupils’ enthusiasm for learning. “Teachers have strong subject knowledge. They plan interesting activities that capture pupils’ enthusiasm. They frequently check how well pupils recall and apply what they know. The high standard of work in pupils’ books across a wide range of subjects is testament to their desire to learn.”
Inspectors also noted Rosecliffe’s wonderfully diverse student body, including many children who are learning English as an additional language, and how effectively staff support each child’s individual needs. “Leaders have designed the curriculum to be equally ambitious for all pupils. This includes pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and those who speak English as an additional language. The provision for these pupils is an emerging strength of the school.”
The report notes that children at Rosecliffe Spencer Academy “are proud of their school” and “feel safe because the teachers care about [them]”. Inspectors emphasise “the kindness of the staff” and the “strong” pastoral support, overall reflecting the school as the welcoming, happy environment it is.
Acting Principal Kirstie Mann said, “It was a real privilege to be able to observe the Inspector’s team meetings (as is standard practice) and hear what they had to say about our children and school and that this has been fully reflected in their report. The final judgements are a huge tribute to the whole school community.”
Director of Primary Education Angela O’Brien, OBE said, “We are so pleased to see Rosecliffe Spencer Academy’s positivity, enthusiasm for learning and welcoming environment reflected in this Ofsted report. As one of the first schools opened by Spencer Academies Trust, we had an exciting opportunity to grow our school community from scratch, and Kirstie Mann and her team have done an amazing job of building one that every child can be proud to be part of.”
