Chellaston Fields' Daisy Sutcliffe wins Gold at Prague World Cup Dance Competition
Spencer Academies Trust and Chellaston Fields Spencer Academy proudly share the incredible achievements of Daisy Sutcliffe, a pupil in Year 2 at Chellaston Fields, who was selected to represent Team England in the 2024 Dance World Cup in Prague earlier this year and won First Place and Gold in her group song and dance performance!
The Dance World Cup is the world’s largest dance competition for children and young adults, with the 2024 event the largest to date, with 9,500 dancers from 54 countries taking part!
Daisy has been dancing since the age of 2 at Hardy Alexandra Dance Company in Derby, studying ballet, tap, stretch, modern/jazz, musical theatre, drama and acro and has been taking part in competitions since the age of 3!
After winning gold, Daisy was on cloud nine; “The World Cup was amazing!! It was a big holiday with all my friends, where we got to dance together on the biggest stage ever!! To make it even better, we won gold! When I heard our names, my heart was beating so fast and I had happy tears!”
Daisy has competed in many competitions over the years, winning an array of gold, silver and bronze medals, as well as performing in her dance school’s annual show. This year, she has also achieved two distinctions; one in ballet from the Royal Academy of Dance and one in modern from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance, as well as a merit in her tap exam, also from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance.
Sharing her passion for dancing, she said: “Dance makes me feel joyful and powerful. I feel proud of myself and it’s my happiest place to be and I feel like I belong there.”
Daisy has also recently secured two voiceover roles for Nickelodeon and Milkshake and recorded for the CBeebies show, “I Can Do It, You Can Too”, which will be airing over the coming months!
On behalf of everyone at Spencer Academies Trust and Chellaston Fields Spencer Academy, we would like to extend our warmest congratulations to Daisy - we’re so proud of everything that she has achieved!
Daisy’s next performance will be in December where she will be dancing at Hardy Alexandra Dance Companies 10th Anniversary show! Find out more here.
