Clover Leys Spencer Academy celebrates construction milestone with Topping Out Ceremony

Spencer Academies Trust and Clover Leys Spencer Academy celebrated the completion of its Phase 1 construction with a ‘Topping Out’ ceremony and tree planting in the school grounds.

The build has been underway since August 2023, and recently hit the milestone of ‘topping out’ with the addition of its roof being completed.

The school is being built by Morgan Sindall Construction through collaboration with project manager Concertus, Derbyshire County Council and SCAPE and is part of Derbyshire County Council’s development plan to improve educational access for the expanding community of Boulton Moor.

Representatives from Morgan Sindall, Concertus, SCAPE and Derbyshire County Council joined Clover Leys Spencer Academy Principal Rebecca Chapman, Director of Primary Education Kate Green, and Chief Executive Officer of Spencer Academies Trust Paul West for a tour of the site, followed by a tree planting in the school fields to celebrate the special day in the lead up to the grand opening.

Principal Rebecca Chapman said “Our current Early Years, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils are eagerly awaiting the September start in their brand-new building on Boulton Moor. Over the year they have watched the school being built whilst patiently imagining what awaits them. We know that the move into the Clover Leys building will unite the Boulton Moor community with our school, helping children to make links and partnerships with their neighbourhood. Our strong school values of friendship and respect will continue to strengthen and thrive as the Boulton Moor children find a sense of their belonging and society within our new school.”

Director of Primary Education Kate Green said “We are extremely excited to be coming to end of this build. Thank you to Morgan Sindall, Concertus, SCAPE and Derbyshire County Council for their hard work and commitment to the project. The children, families and staff can’t wait to make Clover Leys their permanent home in September, and I look forward to seeing the school grow and the children flourish over the coming years.”

The primary school, currently based in a temporary learning village at Chellaston Fields Spencer Academy, will open its doors for the 2024-25 academic year in September.

Places are still available in Years 1, 2 and 3 for September at Clover Leys Spencer. For further information, please get in touch at info@cloverleysspencer.org.uk.
